There are so many things to do while on holidays at Portland Bay Holiday Park. Portland is the largest city in the region, yet it has the charm of a large country town, set by the sea on the Discovery Coast in Victoria's south west region. Here are our top ‘must see’s’ while you’re here:

Portland Bay Holiday Park is in a great location, with a myriad of options for day trips at your doorstep.  The south west corner of Victoria has many beautiful natural attractions. If you’ve got a day or two, perhaps try:

    • Visiting a neighbouring town like Port Fairy, that is a small fishing village, picturesque town where you can indulge in food and wine.
    • Warrnambool has a great shopping precinct and whale watching nursery, a sound & light show of the Shipwreck coast and beautiful Lake Batob.
    • Mt Gambier has the picturesque blue lake and wildlife park; - be intrigued by the sunken gardens and their caves. Take a quick trip over to Port MacDonnell to see the small fishing village and sights.
    • Dartmoor township offers a rare sight of carvings by a local artists and while you’re their you can visit the Waterfall gardens café and take a stroll through the magnificent gardens. The travel up to Casterton and Coleraine where you find your luck with an antique, visit the Glenelg chocolate Factory and walk through the Arboretum and take in the spectacular view.
    • Visit Wannon and Nigrette falls and go onto Mt Eccles and Mt Napier, 2 of our closest volcanoes, where you can see beautiful lake and caves nearby along with beautiful flora and fauna.
    • Go caving at the Princess Margret Rose caves and visit Nelson which offers the mighty Glenelg River with great fishing, river cruises and camping. On the way call in at Picaninnie Ponds, a great diving area.

Tourist Drives

  • For Local Sites to take the C193 & C194 Cape Nelson & Cape Bridgewater
  • For Nelson, Mt Gambier, take the C192
  • To travel up to Heywood take the A1 and onto Dartmoor then take the C187 from Dartmoor up to Digby and onto the C195 to Casterton then on to the B160 to Coleraine, Wannon Falls and Hamilton
  • Take the A1 to Port Fairy and Warrnambool
  • The Great Ocean Rd B100
